Very close to the center of Alta there is a peninsula well worth visiting! On this hiking tour we will
explore several ruins of German fortresses from WW2 but also visit a small light house. The tour
will bring us through pine and birch forests, to the slopes of rocks by the shore and over small
marsh. Then, after a short break, we will continue to an ancient Sami sacrificial site – the Sieidi
woman or Áhkku (grandmother) as she is called in the Sami language before returning to the
starting point. The local experienced guide will provide you with information about the history of
Alta but also about our lives here nowadays. The tour is not especially demanding but we will be
walking on uneven ground for a while, but also with lots of stops on the way. Good hiking boots
are recommended as well as appropriate clothing. Pictures of guests will be taken and sent by email.
